How To Create Your Custom Instagram Bio Link

I'm sure we can all agree that Instagram is one of our biggest platforms of influence as bloggers. Meaning, this is where we're able to get the most traffic and interaction when it comes to sharing our blog content and other work. But isn't it so frustrating that there's only one clickable link in our bios? As someone who loves to share more than one thing at a time, most of the time, this is a huge problem, so when services like Linktree and Lynxinbio came about, I didn't hesitate to try them out.

Although both sites were great and did the job for me, I didn't like that I had to upgrade to get a customized and personalized link. As a blogger, branding is so important, so me having a random linktree or lynxinbio link in my Instagram bio just didn't sit right with me. I know that the monthly fees for these services don't break the bank, but they do add up, and I didn't want to add another subscription service to the many that I'm already subscribed to. So, I did a little thinking, and I discovered that I'm able to achieve what I want using my Squarespace account. If you want to learn how I did it, keep on reading. :)

FIRST AND FOREMOST, YOU WILL NEED A WORKING SQUARESPACE WEBSITE.

Once you have that down, follow the steps below:

1. Create a new Cover Page and name it whatever you want to call it.

2. Choose a Template you want to use, and customize according to your preferences. It's best to stick to the same look your website has. Also make sure to click on the settings of this cover page (the setting icon) to customize the URL of this page. This is the link you are going to put in your Instagram bio, so name it accordingly. Also, make sure that you "enable" this page so once you're done setting up, the link will be live.

PRO TIP: Put a short name in the "URL Slug" like "more" or "links" so the link in your IG bio won't look very long.
The link will look something like: http://yourwebsitename.com/more  or as illustrated in the photo below: http://yourwebsitename.com/instagram-cover-page

3. Within the ACTION tab, select NAVIGATION style for the links so you can add up to 5 links. Add the links that you want to promote on your Instagram. Make sure that the links you put are all working links. It's such a pain when your readers click on broken or missing urls. This is where you can add a Form where you can ask your readers to subscribe to you and whatnot. This is a great tool to use if you are looking to build your newsletter readers.

4. Once you're happy with how the page looks, go back out to the Navigation area of your Squarespace dashboard and drag your Instagram Cover Page to the "NOT LINKED" section of your website. This is a very important step so this cover page doesn't show up in your actual site.

You should have something like this:

Go ahead and change the link of your Instagram bio to the link of this Cover Page you just created and voila, you have your very own customized Instagram Bio link! Whenever I have a new blog post, I just go back to customizing my Cover Page to update the links. If you don't have a Squarespace website, I'm sure you'll still be able to do something like this on your website with a little help from Google. :)

I hope you found this post helpful, and if you did, please feel free to share it! Also, if you have any questions about the whole process, shoot me a comment or a message. I will try my best to help you get your desired Instagram Bio link! :)
