If you’re a fan of Merit Beauty then you probably have been excited for the release of these eyeshadows much like me. We live in an era of over consumption and ubiquitous makeup launches that actually nailing the concept of minimal makeup products by a brand is almost unheard of and Merit just executes this so well.
In an ocean of makeup brands, I’m continually impressed with Merit’s ability to create makeup staples.
You have other beauty brands creating eyeshadow palettes while Merit creates single eyeshadows. The intention and purpose behind their makeup launches are truly commendable, and I'm excited to take you on a deep dive into their newest release: the Solo Shadow and No.2 Brush.
is a buildable cream-to-powder shadow that adds a beautiful wash of color to your lids. you can go as light or as dark as you please. the beauty of the eyeshadow is that it’s so easy to apply and blend that you truly cannot mess it up, and it will make you fall in love with the process of applying or playing with eyeshadow altogether. the eyeshadow easily melts and glides onto the lids and dries down to a beautiful satin matte finish. you won’t have to worry about creasing or fall out. apply the shadow with the No.2 brush or your finger.
PRO APPLICATION TIP:
warm up the eyeshadow on your finger first then apply directly onto your lid. then take the fluffy side of the No.2 brush to blend out any harsh lines. using the small pointy side of the brush, apply shadow on your lower lash line and blend out for a beautiful seamless mildly smokey eye look.
No. 2 Brush
i’m not usually a big fan of dual ended brushes, but I’m so impressed with Merit’s capability of creating makeup staples, and their No.2 brush will be that staple for eyeshadow for me. This brush works seamlessly with the Solo Shadow and it comes with two sides - the fluffier side for applying and blending, and a tiny more precise side for outlining, defining, and winging out shadows. The bristles are so soft and they’re easy to wash. Since Merit is really pushing the minimalistic approach to makeup, this is the ONLY brush you really need for eyeshadow application so you can say goodbye to the dreadful weekly washing of thousands of makeup brushes.
The Solo Shadow is available now and there are 8 beautiful shades to choose from. To sum my thoughts all up, I do love the eyeshadow and the brush and I haven’t been able to stop using them since I got them. I highly recommend you trying these out!
