Step Up Your Hair Routine with Rooted Rituals - My 7-Step Scalp Care Routine

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rooted Rituals. All opinions are 100% mine.

We’ve all heard of skin care routines, right? But why aren’t people also talking about scalp care routines?

Did you know that our scalp is composed of 5 layers? The topmost layer is skin, and it needs just as much care as we give the rest of our body! I will admit that I was never the type to give my hair or scalp attention, and I’ve definitely experienced consequences this past year! Think itchiness, dryness, flakiness - not cute! So, this year, I want to be better at taking care of my scalp because a healthy scalp equals beautiful, healthy hair!

Today, I want to share with you my scalp care routine that has been working wonders for me! I could definitely see a difference in the condition of my scalp and my hair has never looked and felt better!

I’m working with Rooted Rituals to introduce to you a new way of caring for your hair: it’s to focus on your roots more, aka, your scalp! Did you get the pun? They’ve created amazing products with skin-loving ingredients like ginger root, charcoal, mint, aloe, and Vitamin E that help care for your hair and scalp. My favorite products are the Cooling & Strengthening Tonic and their Root Rejuvenating Scalp Massager but I’ll get into these later!

So, let’s get into my 7-Step Scalp Care Routine! There are three main steps: CLEANSE, CONDITION, TREAT. I will also be sharing the products in the order that I use them.

CLEANSE

We’re not supposed to wash our hair or head every day because that will dry out our scalp so when “wash day” comes around, we have to make sure we do a thorough cleanse to get rid of any buildup, dirt, and dandruff.

1. Pre-Shampoo Root Rinse - this helps break down stubborn oil, hair product, and scalp buildup before shampooing to give your scalp a clean slate. I like to use this when I plan on soaking in my tub so the product works its magic while I relax. HOW TO USE: Shake well, section your hair and spray. Leave on your head for 5-10 minutes. Rinse.

2. Quick Rinse Scalp Scrub - this product really does a great job at scrubbing away any stubborn scalp buildup because of its micro-exfoliators. It also improves the scalp’s condition as you wash. HOW TO USE: Gently massage a small amount into wet scalp. Rinse.

3. Clarifying Shampoo - this shampoo contains ginger root and charcoal to cleanse hair and detox the scalp. It lathers nicely so a little bit goes a long way. HOW TO USE: Gently massage into wet hair. Lather and Rinse well.

CONDITION

We’re moving on to the next portion of our routine, the conditioning part. Now that we’ve cleansed and washed our hair and scalp, we have to bring back the moisture and restore balance.

4. Silicone-Free Conditioner - if this was a skincare routine, this part is me applying my toner. This conditioner is made with ginger root and aloe that moisturizes and restores balance to hair. It rinses clean so it doesn’t weigh the hair down. HOW TO USE: After shampooing, apply a generous amount to wet hair from root to tip. Rinse well.

5. Deep Hydrating Concentrate - These days, using the conditioner isn’t enough. I love using this product because I can really feel my hair soften up upon application! This product is a super-charged shot of hydration that deeply nourishes hair! You only need a little bit! HOW TO USE: Apply to damp hair and massage from mid-length to ends. Rinse well.

TREATMENT

The last step is probably the one that I look forward to the most because this is where the tonic and scalp massager come in! I used to be an only shampoo + conditioner type of gal and never used anything else on my hair but now, I really do see the importance of treating my scalp and hair with Rooted Rituals products.

6. Cooling & Strengthening Tonic - I love this tonic because it gives such a pleasant cooling sensation on the scalp! This is Rooted Rituals’ signature hair treatment that helps maintain thickness, strengthen hair against damage, and improve the scalp moisture barrier over time! HOW TO USE: Separate hair into sections. Apply 2-4 drops per section. Massage in. Do not rinse.

PRO TIP: Use the Rooted Rituals Scalp Rejuvenating Scalp Massager to massage product in. This also increases blood flow and circulation at the scalp to promote scalp health.

7. Vitamin E Multi-Task Leave-On Mask - I like to think of this as my night cream but for the hair. It just gives the most incredible hydration and it absorbs instantly and feels lightweight. HOW TO USE: Spread evenly through damp hair. Do not rinse. Style as desired.

So there you go, my 7-Step Scalp Care Routine!

If you’re not used to having a very thorough scalp/hair care routine, I suggest trying these key products first: Pre-Shampoo Root Rinse, Cooling & Strenghtening Tonic, and their wonderful Scalp Rejuvenating Scalp Massager. But I do want to encourage you to try my awesome 7-Step routine because you will definitely see and feel the difference after one full routine!

If you want to see me use these products in video form, go ahead and visit my Instagram page and check out my SCALP CARE Highlight.

Before I go, I want to let you know that you can find these products at Walmart, so the next time you’re in there, don’t forget to add some scalp care goodies in your shopping cart.
