Are you scared of the FLASH?

My Makeup Mishap Confession

Never in my life did I imagine writing a blog post with a title such as this one but it really is a question I sincerely want to know your answer to, because, I AM SCARED of the flash!

Okay, so it all goes back to the day I received my July Ipsy bag in which I got an HD powder that I loved so much, I even included it in my July favorites. I've been using it everyday, since I got it because I like how it prevents my under eye concealer from creasing and it makes my under eye area matte and smooth. I just loved it! The powder is from City Color Cosmetics.

The way I use it is with my damp Real Techniques Complexion Sponge; I dip it in the powder and dab it under my eye to set my concealer and that method (which is called baking or cooking) really stopped my under eye area from creasing. I've always had a bad case of under eye creasing so that is the main reason why I fell in love with the powder. I was so impressed that I couldn't stop using it! Just two weeks ago though, I STOPPED using this powder completely and I now HATE it. Let's fast forward to the week my sister started working with me.

So one day at work, my sister Micah told me that I put way too much concealer that day. It kinda bugged me because I know that I didn't. I have bright lights on whenever I do my makeup so I know I that I did my makeup well, so I let it pass. Then the next day, she said the exact same thing! It was getting under my skin so I sneaked into the bathroom at work and took a selfie with my phone. It looked fine under normal lighting. Then I took another photo but with the flash on and I was shocked!

WARNING: IT REALLY IS SHOCKING!

#nofilter #kadiriDO NOT FREAKING BAKE THAT POWDER!!! Also, ignore the fact that my forehead can double as a very oiled frying pan, ready to cook some eggs.

DO NOT FREAKING BAKE THAT POWDER!!!

Also, ignore the fact that my forehead can double as a very oiled frying pan, ready to cook some eggs.

Now I understand why my sister kept telling me that. At my work, we have very large windows and the building right across us reflects the sunlight into our workspace so I'm guessing that's the reason why Micah was seeing my under eye MESS! After discovering for myself what my under eye was dealing with (#SHAME so much #SHAME), I felt so conscious about it. I couldn't even face my customers! Is that what everyone has been seeing for an entire month? OH GOSH! This picture was the joke of the day because it made everyone at our house laugh. Then, I was curious; what caused it?

I already had a feeling it was the HD powder from City Color because I REALLY baked the powder under my eyes that day, but of course, I had to test it out first. So, the next day, I used a different powder for setting my under eye and did the Flash test and the photo came out nice; no yucky white stuff under my eyes. Then I felt sad because I knew I had to stop using the HD powder I have grown to love.

Today, I used it again just to show you guys how pretty it looks under natural lighting...

... and how bad it looks in flash photography. 😖

FLASH! I didn't really bake the powder underneath my eyes that's why it doesn't look too harsh, but I still set my under eyes like I normally do.

That is why I am scared of the flash my friends. Do you have any under eye setting powder suggestions? I really need something that will stop my concealer from creasing and at the same time, not make me look like a complete idiot. I want to be IMMUNE to the Flash so please help a girl out. #FIGHTtheFLASH 😂 I don't want to be scared anymore!

Thanks to my sister Micah who was concerned enough to point out that very embarrassing makeup mishap. Do you have your own makeup mishap story? Care to share?
